Finally, the wind laid down today. We explored this beautiful area below Rock Hall where the Chester River meets the Chesapeake Bay by bike. It was a Bald Eagle extravaganza!
At first, I thought it was a bunch of vultures and an eagle feasting in the field off of Rt. 309 but that would have been really weird. In the past, I have seen the eagles feeding together on deer carcasses while the vultures waited patiently nearby. Then my good, long lens showed me an amazing sight - four youths and the pie-bald chaperone. What a treat!
After a gully-washer last week, I spotted this beautiful eagle drying himself. He permitted me good access until my presence annoyed him off his roost. He was so heavy with wetness that as he first took flight, he drooped downward before finally flying away with great, heavy wings.
